yoho np

After spending much of our dedicated time to Banff, we almost decided to skip this visit, but glad we didn't! We were able to get a lot accomplished in the day we spent here and with its location so close to both Banff and Jasper NP you'd be silly not to squeeze it in. A lot less traffic with just as stunning attractions as the nearby options. Plus side, we had a black bear jogging along side on the road - what else could you ask for?!

DAWSON CREEK

Home to the starting point of the Alcan hwy. (Alaskan Highway). The infamous starting point sign is located in the corner of the visitor center parking lot, with constant traffic (depending on the time of year you're looking to brave the journey). That said, be sure to stop inside and learn about all the history of the 1422 mile stretch along with stocking up on loads of pamphlets and brochures full of information along the route to AK. If you have the Mile Post book be sure to bring it inside to the visitor center to receive an official certificate of participation on the highway, even signed by the Mayor of DC!

liard hot springs

What a blessing tucked along one of the more strenuous stretches of the Alaska Highway. This Hot Spring is worth every penny of its $5 admission. RV friendly parking on-site, you'll enjoy the hot springs no matter the weather outside. Plenty of room so despite the crowd you won't feel cramped. Break up your journey with this location for sure.
