Must stop spot in the UP. Small town with a lot of history and things to explore. Watching the freighters come in and out of the locks was an experience in itself. Soo Brewing had great beer and fun games for customers. All adventurers should stop into Superior Coffee! Crazy outfitter/coffee house with a lot to offer.
mackinaw bridge
We timed our visit up accordingly and was able to participate in the annual bridge walk on Labor Day. Very cool experience seeing as this is the only day out of the year where you’re able to walk on the bridge, nonetheless – it’s the world’s longest suspension bridge, so that in itself makes it worth the drive across!
mackinac island
Not our first time to the island and certainly won't be our last. So fun to step back in time where there are no motorized vehicles. Be sure to bring your bikes across on the ferry and bike the loop around the island. First timers, do the carriage rides and consume as much fudge as possible.
st. ignace
Small UP town on the other side of the Mackinaw Bridge. There was a good Harvest Host option within 10 miles of crossing over, but we didn’t end up staying. Host seemed very friendly and accommodating. Kewadin Casino was a great spot for boondocking/RV hook-up’s. Several spots for rigs of all sizes. Be sure to check out Castle Rock!
